My Predictions for Leadership in 2022

As we close out the year that was in our lives, our roles, or our businesses, we reflect on the year that was. We reflect on what happened, what we achieved, and who inspired us. And why. Part of the end of the year for me is to unpack the TIME Magazine person of the year and understand what they did that made such an impact on the world, and what that means for the future of leadership and for the future of leaders.

‘For nearly a century, TIME has named a Person of the Year—the individual or group who most shaped the previous 12 months, for better or for worse. Person of the Year is a marker of influence, and few individuals have had more influence than Elon Musk on life on Earth, and potentially life off Earth too’. He received the coveted award for 2021, and Musk’s largest terrestrial impact so far has been with Tesla. 2021 was the year that electric vehicles finally came into the mainstream and that Tesla became a trillion-dollar company, one of only a handful in the world. In 2020, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the award, though the three winners prior to 2020 were genuine and real influencers, who stood for a cause more than a mission and went after it – Greta Thunberg was one of them.
